What I am wearing on the plane.

What to wear when flying!

Warm and comfortable is my motto. That means leggings are a must, so my choice is black. You need to be able to bend your knees comfortably and have an elastic waist band.
Am also wearing a long black top that covers me well and this has long sleeves.
Over the top I am throwing a long cardigan that is lightweight and grey.
Miracle support stockings to the knees are good. Do not let them roll down or dig in as this is not good.
Sensible soft shoes that can be removed easily and warm comfy socks put on.
I would have taken a scarf [bright and colourful] but I have packed my warm Tibetan shawl in my carry on.
A nice beaded necklace in neutral cream completes the outfit and can be worn with any  ensemble when overseas.
Now sit back, read and enjoy the ride.

What's in my Carry On?

Too much! That's what's in my carry on.

Comfort

First of all I am taking a warm cosy Tibetan yak wool wrap which will double up as a shawl, wrap and blanket. Lightweight and comforting it is easily rolled up and stored in the base of my carry on. I always freeze on the plane so this will be great.

Warm socks are also a must.

Entertainment

A book [The boy who fell to earth by Kathy Lette ] is a must, plus a magazine. The magazine I will be taking is a National Geographic which always has interesting articles. My E-reader always comes with me so I never run out of reading material.

A  puzzle book, my choice being word search to keep my brain active.

Note book and pen because I am writing a blog, a book and jot down anything of interest.

Hygiene and personal stuff

Travel wipes to clean down surfaces and for personal use.

Face wipes to freshen up and eye cream to feel better.

Hand cream and pawpaw gel are also soothing.

Medications in their own bottles and boxes and a copy of scripts from my doctor along with medical history and list of medications.

Tissues and hand sanitiser.

Make up bag with lipstick, eye shadow with brush, foundation, blusher with brush and eyebrow pencil.

A compact with mirrors and a comb.

Travel spray perfume

Nail file [not metal]

Small pill container to take extras during the day.

Technical doodads

My i-pad and lap-top to upload photos, you tube, pintrest, google, games, movies, and writing.

Power cords and plenty of them [it is just getting ridiculous].

Phone.

Camera.

Essentials

Documents folder with passport.

Wallet with money.

Change purse with coins [ In Europe it costs to have a pee ]

Refreshments.

Green tea bags as I love my own brand and these will sustain me throughout the trip.

For snacks I am bringing two health food bars, in case I get hungry, one a nougat honey log the other a summer roll. Some lollies (tick tacks, peach and lemonade flavour, Blitz peppermints and Werther's caramel chocolate flavour) to enjoy during the flight.

Water bottle to refill whenever.

Change of clothes.

T shirt and under pants [just in case luggage goes missing].

And that's all Folks!

Preparing to Go.

Two weeks to go before departure, people! We are so excited and I can not begin to tell you how many times we have packed and unpacked our suitcases and carry on. We are renowned over packers and it came as a surprise yesterday when Travel Marvel sent us two backpacks and document folders. That got us terribly excited and changed our carry on regime.Start again!

I am in my sixties [hence the title] and my 23 year old daughter kindly offered to carry my bags for me!So we are Grey and Away in two weeks. Still to have our flu shots [happening today], and get our money sorted. We are flying to Hong Kong first and then with Air Emirates on to Dubai and Hamburg before catching the train to Bremen in the north of Germany. My ancestors hail from this region so it is an ancestral journey for both of us. I have been doing genealogy now for eighteen months so it is with great excitement that our journey begins.
