Travelling and Reading.

As I travel I also like to read which is very important to me. I love reading and do it every night in bed before going to sleep. It helps me to relax and sleep better. If I have time during the day I try to fit it into my schedule. I seem to have more luck in summer when I take a cup of green tea outside and sit in the sun or under my large blue umbrella at the outdoor table. Not only is it relaxing but informative and a joy. I could not imagine life without a book. Travelling is a great time to share with a book. There is always down time and reading is a great way of filling it up. I am usually exhausted after a hard day sight seeing,  so go to bed early which is great for the reader. It helps me unwind.

The book I took away with me and finished on the cruise was "The Boy Who Fell To Earth " by Kathy Lette. This was an extraordinarily moving read. The story of a life lived with an autistic son. Kathy does a brilliant job detailing the ups and downs of every day life with this boy along. A tale of heartache and joy. She has a way of making a bad situation funny with her candid humour and wit. Not only  does she describe the problems of this troubled boy but also the trials and tribulations of living with a new boyfriend and an ex in the background.  She is truly an inspiration. A must read especially if there is an autistic child in the family. I enjoyed this book immensely and found it easy to pick up at the end of a long day. I looked forward to getting back into it.  When I finished this book I left it in the library on the boat  for other people to read. Enjoy.

I hope to review the books that I enjoy as I finish them so look out for more material along these lines.
