Book Review - Tibet

My next book is called Tibet (published in 1988) which is a country that I am interested in and passionate about. Tibet is an autobiography written by Sorrel Wilby who describes it as " As a woman's lone trek across a mysterious land."Sorrell accomplished this trip in the eighties and this book is a comprehensive tale of her hardships and perseverance in doing so. It tells of the Tibetan landscape and of the hospitality and kindness of the Tibetan people that she encounters along the way. It also chronicles her trials and tribulations within a foreign and isolated country such as Tibet. Her donkey Budget is a funny part of her experience being headstrong and difficult. She deals with homesickness and encounters nomads who help her deal with the issues she faces along the way. In one hut she sees an Australian T towel hung on the wall [so out of place] which reminds her of home and family. Through fair weather and foul, blizzards, cold and snow she perseveres and lives to tell her story . A remarkable story indeed. An inspiring good read.
