The Birds In My Garden.

I just love the many varieties of birds that visit my garden. These include doves, blackbirds, parrots, crows, magpies, Indian miners, cockatoos, and kookaburras. I never miss an opportunity to stand or sit quietly watching them feed. For  assistance I feed them twice a week by putting wild bird seed out for them. They also get bread apples and any left over fruit that I have on hand. The left over cat food even gets put on the lawn for the meat eaters. Nothing goes to waste and our leftovers end up there as well. Things like leftover pasta, pizza, and vegetables follow. Nothing is wasted and everything goes.

I have several bird feeders hung up under the trees that the birds seem to enjoy hanging off as they feed. Some even sit in them and pass the time.

Three pedestal bird baths are dotted around the garden and several bowls on the ground. These are essential as the weather can get hot. Watching these birds take a bath is a sheer delight.

A good recipe for the birds , especially the honey eaters is: one cup of rolled oats, one cup of lard and one cup of honey. Mix together and place in the fridge. When set this can be cut into squares and pieces placed in the bird feeders. Thy love it.

Every spring many nests are built around my garden in trees and creepers alike. I even have a blackbird who makes her nest on the top of my ladder in a small shed with no door. She watches me if I have to go in the shed but is otherwise not bothered. I now have two ladders.

These birds give me great joy as I sit outside writing. We have to care for our feathered friends. They are good for the world.
